What is life skills ? : The term ‘Life Skills’ refers to the skills you need to know and make the most through out your entire life.

Any skill whether learnt or in born that is useful in your life is regarded as a life skill.

Most individuals find it helpful when they are able to tie their shoes, swim, drive a car, and operate a computer. In general, the word “life skills” refers to any of the abilities required to deal with life’s obstacles effectively and successfully help you out in life.

There isn’t a definite list of life skills.But talents may be more or less applicable to you based on your life circumstances, culture, beliefs, age, geographical region, and so on.

However, in 1999, the World Health Organization identified six critical categories of life skills:

1.Communication and interpersonal abilities : This describes the skills needed to get along and work with other people, particularly to transfer and receive communications in oral speech, writing or verbally. It is very important in human life.

2.Making decisions and solving problems skills. This highlights the abilities required to identify and understand problems, identify the right solutions to them, either alone or with others, and then act wisely to address them.

3.Ability to Think critically and creative skills. You must be able to think critically and have creative skill.

This is the ability to think in various ways and unexpected ways about a particular problems, develop new solutions, or generate new ideas, combined them with the ability to examine information carefully and grasp its relevance towards the problems.

4.Self-awareness and empathy :Self awareness and empathy are two fundamental components of emotional intelligence you need im your life. With self-awareness and empathy you should have the ability to feel for others as if their experiences were your own.

5.Assertiveness with calmness, or self-control. These skills reflect the ability to defend oneself and others while remaining cool in the face of significant provocation.

6.Resilience and problem-solving abilityThis is just the ability to cope with problems , some people can not cope with problems.

If there is set back in their life that is the end of their life.The ability to rebound from setbacks and view them as learning opportunities or simply experiences will help you grow in life.

You will need to require study skills when attending school or university. These includes learning how to organize yourself for study, conduct research, and even write a dissertation or thesis.

These are not really abilities that everyone will require but essential as a student, but writing ability is likely to be valuable in a number of occupations and jobs.

When you are buying a house , you will need to negotiate, and you will undoubtedly need patience and a good temper. If you have children, these skills are likely to be at the top of your list of “important life skills.
